A-Rod…¿el Lance Armstrong del béisbol?

image

Too Soon For A-Rod To Be A-Gone

By Adry Torries

It’s hard for an athlete to accept the fact that he’s no longer that dude especially when that person is getting up there in age — athletically speaking —, banged up and not reliable any more.

Joe Girardi has tried very hard at getting that message across to Alex Rodriguez.

It’s no secret that A-Rod has been miserable at the plate since September and carried it over into the postseason, his least favorable time of the year as a member of the Yankees.

ARod’s October Struggle Is Nothing New

By Adry Torres

Maybe the cure to Alex Rodriguez’s latest October struggles could be a heavy dose of Minnesota Twins pitching which he’s surely enjoyed facing during the brief postseason success he’s enjoyed as member of the Yankees.

The slugger hit .421 and homered once against the Twins during the American League Divisional Series in the 2004 playoffs, his first season as a member of the Yankees before the Bronx Bombers’ historic collapse in the American League Championship Series against Boston.

He was nowhere to be found during three straight first round series loses from 2005-2007, hitting .133, .071 and .267.

Along the way he figured it out. He was always questioned coming through in the clutch. He woke up and delivered, hitting .455 with two homers and six RBIs in the three-game sweep of Twins in the ALDS en route to a World Series championship in 2009.

World Football Challenge still a hit in USA

By Jose M. Romero /@RomeroJoseM

For Fox Deportes

To those who for some reason still don’t think soccer can make it in the United States, go on down to Yankee Stadium on Aug. 8.

You won’t see the New York Yankees. And if you buy a ticket, bear witness to a soccer field marked off on the grass of the ballpark. Then watch two of the soccer club giants of the world face each other, Real Madrid of Spain vs. AC Milan of Italy.

World-class soccer in the U.S. has been played every summer since 2009 (except for 2010 due to the World Cup), or maybe you were just too busy to notice. That’s OK. The World Football Challenge brings some of Europe and Latin America’s best teams to the U.S. and Canada for friendlies against each other or Major League Soccer clubs.

Just put Clemens in the Hall of Fame and let’s move on

By Jose M. Romero /@RomeroJoseM

For FOX Deportes

Levanten las manos if you’re sick and tired of steroids and performance-enhancing drug talk in baseball.

That would be me, out here in too-hot Arizona, raising my hand.

So Roger Clemens was acquitted of all charges that he lied to Congress about using PEDs. This clears the way for him to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame, and it clears his name, officially.
