World’s Most Famous Arena To Host Cotto, Trout

New York – It’s no secret that Miguel Cotto has always felt right at home when fighting at Madison Square Garden. There’s just something about boxing in New York City that’s always made the four-time champion click in the ring. His legion of followers, especially Puerto Ricans, have played a large part in willing him to 7-0 record at the arena.

Cotto (37-3, 30 KOs) will look to extend that streak Dec. 1 when he faces Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KOs) for Trout’s WBA ‘regular’ junior middleweight title.

“The fans here a great. Feel good when I come here to New York, the treatment I get here makes me feel very good,” Cotto told Fox Deportes while adding that fighting in Las Vegas has always not been the same.

Mayweather is money once again

LAS VEGAS – The only thing that can stop Floyd Mayweather, it seems, is the law.

Try as he might Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden. Miguel Cotto couldn’t get the job done. Cotto needed a decisive win if not a knockout to sway the judges, and he got neither.

Mayweather won a unanimous decision, picked up another super welterweight championship to add to his undefeated 43-0 record and belt collection, and on June 1 he’ll be off to jail to serve a sentence for domestic violence and harassment violations of the law

Weigh-in almost as big a show as fight night

LAS VEGAS  — The fights are Saturday, but the hype reached a near fever pitch Friday afternoon at the official weigh-in for the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez-“Sugar” Shane Mosley bouts.

The public was allowed into half of the MGM Grand Garden Arena to get a short glimpse of the pugilists, and fans of Mayweather Jr., Alvarez and Cotto roared for their man while Mosley seemed to have the fewest supporters.
