That was fun, wasn’t it?
The USA Basketball team finally got the first one out the way, as a France team with six current NBA players were no match for Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s 12-man unit. The 98-71 victory in London was the first of five games for Team USA as their play in Pool A started on Sunday.
Things were interesting in the first quarter for the boys in red, white and blue, as Team USA were up by just one point after the first quarter. However, as soon as France’s leading man Tony Parker went out in the second, the Americans rattled off an 11-0 run. USA’s lead went up to 16 at halftime and by the end of third the game was out of reach.
Oh, and there was that dope bounce pass by LeBron James to Kevin Durant. Good grief.
Durant shined on Sunday with 22 points and nine rebounds and Kevin Love chipped in nicely off the bench with 14 points. Ali Traore led the French with 12 points off the bench and Parker had just 10 points as he tries to play himself into shape after suffering an eye injury last month at the club. Yep.
Team USA’s next opponent will be Tunisia on Tuesday night. Of course, Tunisia might be looking up in the air all game as L1 + X was being pushed by everyone on Team USA on Sunday. (I’m a video game nerd, so I apologize for a reference you might not understand. If you pressed those two buttons on the controller, you’d throw a lob to the rim. I know this is overboard with description, but I’m now motivated to play NBA 2K12.) Check out the alley-oops below, and we’ll see how man we’ll get on Tuesday.
Tyson Chandler alley-oop from LeBron James: Gotta take care of the big fella at all times.
LeBron James alley-oop from Deron Williams: Yep, there’s absolutely no way on Earth to defend that.
Anthony Davis alley-oop from Deron Williams: It is interesting to see how much the team has taken a liking towards Anthony Davis. They make sure he scores when he’s in the game, and they’re always teaching him. And making fun of him. Bow to the Brown indeed.
